THE BASIC FACTS ABOUT THE CHEMICALS WE USE WITH OUR SYSTEMS

ALWAYS wear protective gloves when handling any chemicals.

ALWAYS read and follow the safety instructions on chemical containers.

These are the three chemicals most commonly used in the mobile electroplating process.

ELECTROCLEAN - This chemical is used with the 3001 system to electronically deep clean the item to be gold plated.  Electroclean consists of 95% water and 5% Sodium Hydroxide (also known as Caustic Soda) - 50 grams to one litre of water. It is easily and safely produced using Caustic Soda available from supermarkets and hardware stores in 500gram containers.  You would expect to pay around $4.00 for 500grams.
CHROME STRIPPER - This chemical is used with the 3001 system to electronically remove chrome from chrome plated metal and plastic items.  Chrome Stripper uses the same base chemical as electroclean, Sodium Hydroxide. Chrome Stripper consists of 90% water and 10% Sodium Hydroxide - 100grams to one litre of water.
NICKEL ACTIVATOR - This chemical is used with the 3001 system to electronically prepare the nickel surface of an object to accept the application of the gold solution. Nickel Activator consists of 99% water and 1% Hydrochloric Acid - 10ml to one litre of water. Hydrochloric Acid is available from hardware stores and pool chemical suppliers, in 500ml and 1 litre containers. You would expect to pay around $4.00 for 500ml.

When we supply your new 3001 system, we include 3 - 1 litre containers. Each container is marked either Electroclean, Chrome Stripper or Nickel Activator.  Each container has the correct amount of base chemical and requires the addition of water to produce one litre of the chemical.

For supplies of Gold, Silver, Copper, Bronze, Chrome, Tin and Nickel, we use and recommend CASWELL solutions.      Click here to Visit the Caswell web site

The Caswell chemicals we use and recommend, do not contain Cyanide.  We strongly advise that you do not purchase, store of use any chemicals or plating solutions that contain Cyanide. If you choose to use Cyanide based products, check with your State Health Department and your Local Authority for their regulations and licence requirements for this dangerous poison before obtaining or using supplies.
